Tagalog meets Filipino

Ask Filipinos what language they speak and they will say Tagalog, whereas the standardised form of the language is called Filipino. Go figure.

    Unless, for instance, said Filipinos understand Tagalog while only speaking their dialect. Like my wife who only speaks Pangasinan when chatting with family.
